Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility
2002 Feasibility Study: Report

Operations

Create a Mourning Room for Families, Deceased and Funeral Directors

During the feasibility study meetings with the staff of Montgomery Meadows, it was suggested that, as part of the renovation, we create a mourning room for families, deceased, and funeral directors.

The major points of concern were:

  • Privacy in times of personal loss
  • Maintain privacy of other residents
  • Prevent possible stress to other residents

If the full proposal of replacing all of the skilled nursing beds and creating a +/- 40-bed Adult Home is accepted by Montgomery County and the State of New York, then the present Wing-C will be vacated by residents. This would allow an almost no cost solution for this need.

Our suggestion would be to utilize two of the existing bedrooms for this purpose.

  • One "bedroom" could be utilized by the deceased and the staff, and also by family members. The deceased’s bed could be moved from their former room to this room.
  • The adjoining room could be for family gathering.
  • If desired, the dividing wall could be removed and a folding partition could be installed
