A separate personnel office is necessary for proper operation and for
privacy issues. At the present time, the "personnel office" is a desk in
the open business office where there is no privacy.

The conclusions from the planning meetings indicate two primary
considerations for selecting the office location:
- Locate with administration
- Locate off employee entrance corridor
Several possibilities were considered:
- Could a private office be constructed within the present business
office?
This option was rejected because there isn’t sufficient space in
the business office to accommodate this office and the other desired
office functions (administration, accounting, and reception).
- Could an addition be constructed at the south end of the present
building, where the present employee entrance is located, to
accommodate the personnel office and other business and operational
functions?
This option could solve several problems:
- All the employee services could be located together instead of
in the present three locations.
- The expansion of the lobby requires the relocation of the locker
rooms which could be located in this addition.
- Employees want their dining room relocated, from the present
basement location, which could ideally be located with the locker
rooms.
- Additional space was desired in the administration/business
office.
The problems associated with this solution are:
- The high cost of construction.
- The present exit is also used as an exit for the stair tower
from the basement which, to the best of our knowledge, is required
to exit directly to the outside. Constructing this addition would
block this direct egress to the outside without extensive renovation
to the existing structure and stair tower.
- Could the present housekeeping office be utilized for the
personnel office?
The answer is yes, but it most likely would have to be made
larger by extending the east wall into the adjacent receiving area.
When we take into consideration that the proposed creation of an
Adult Home would only utilize two of the existing three skilled nursing
wings, the third wing would be the least expensive place to relocate the
locker rooms and staff dining room. Therefore, the creation of the
personnel office in the present housekeeping office location appears to
be the best option.
The cost of converting the housekeeping office into the personnel
office would be approximately $2,000.
