The existing windows should be replaced with new
insulated glass windows.
There are 25 widows in each of the three existing
skilled nursing wings, and 15 additional windows located in the core,
for a total of 90 windows.
Our suggestion is to use "replacement" windows with
thermal-break frames and associated trim to eliminate the necessity of
interior and exterior repair.
When the existing windows are removed, any
infiltration cracks in the walls should be sealed. Some blocking may
also need to be installed, and foam or fiberglass insulation installed
around the perimeter of the frame.
Once the windows have been replaced, new perimeter
caulking should be installed around the interior and exterior
perimeters.
Our estimated cost to remove the old windows, perform
necessary repair and preparation, install the new windows, and caulk the
perimeters, including necessary clean-up, is $700.00 each window for a
total of $63,000.
