Skilled Nursing Home
Green Manor Nursing Home
The 83,000 sq. ft., 120-bed Green Manor Nursing Home
was completed in September 1992. The facility includes a central core which can service
four nursing wings, three of which were built as part of the original construction. The
fourth wing, if necessary, would be added during future expansion.
There are two large enclosed
courtyards, and several open courtyards and patios.
The picture to the right shows one of the courtyards near the front of the
building.
Seventeen skylights provide plenty
of natural light. These coupled with the numerous interior planters add to the enjoyment
of residents and staff.
Not everything was easy during this 10-1/2 month
construction period. The foundations, steel and roof were installed through the winter.
The spring was extremely wet and the site conditions would not permit the use of a crane
to set the rooftop heating and air-conditioning units; thus, a helicopter was used. In
just 45 minutes, 13 roof top units were set in place, again saving the owner time and
money.
The total completed project cost was
$7,385,475 (or $57.00 per square foot). Substantially below the Budget of $8,000,000.
