Live Exports - petition on No.10 website
Kent Against Live Exports (KALE)
"I never give them hell. I just tell the truth and they think it's hell."

At long last, KALE have today (2nd April) received verification from Downing Street that their Live Export Petition has been placed on the No. 10 site for anyone to sign. The link directly to the petition is:
Please note that the petition is only open to Uk residents. Once you enter your name, an e mail will be sent to you by return, from which you HAVE TO click on the link within in order to have your name officially added.
The wording of our (Approved) petition reads:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Change legislation regarding live animal exports.
We petition the Prime Minister to amend the Government Policy on Overseas Live Farm Animal Transportation. We request that these amendments should include the following:
1) That all animals destined for breeding, further fattening or slaughter should be protected by an overall maximum journey time of eight (8) hours.
2) That an Approved European Union Regulatory Standard Staging Post be provided within a 50 km road radius of Dover Harbour, Kent, to provide for emergency lairage, which would include regulatory feeding, watering and resting facilities for any animals being exported for the reasons defined in 1) above.
3) That there is a fixed prohibition on the loading or sailing of a Maritime Vessel carrying livestock in weather conditions amounting to either Beaufort Scale Force 6 or above.
I say 'at long last', as our first petition submitted several weeks ago was rejected due to the wording being considered by No. 10 as:
"Language which is offensive, intemperate, or provocative".
The wording of the first offensive and provocative (Rejected) petition read:
We petition the Prime Minister to change the Governments policy on Live Farm Animal Transportation; including: the introduction of an 8 hour overall Maximum Journey Time for all animals destined for slaughter, further fattening and breeding; the immediate establishment of an Approved EU regulatory standard Staging Post (Lairage) within a 50km road radius of Dover Harbour, Kent, and an immediate cessation to any planned loading and carrying of livestock on all Maritime vessels during conditions of Beaufort Scale Force 6 or above.
Yup, I am still trying to get my head round the offences and provocation the wording has caused; but Ho Hum !, on we go. We don't need votes from anyone, others do.
Please pass the link on to anyone you know and please help KALE by adding your name to the petition list.
I would personally like to thank 'Suzy' for getting the ball rolling with the original suggestion, and to 'Dennis' for all his assistance with the re-drafting of the second petition, and for his continual words of encouragement. thanks Dennis.
Thanks - Mark and the KALE crew.
