Animal experiment is what we intentionally
hurt animals or make animal ill. Giving
animal virus, making various condition to
make animal nervous disease. The condition
of injury is also given intentionally to
animals. Fracturing animal's bones, taking
their internal organs off, disecting just
to see what it is, pealing their head's skin
off to see how they react when some parts
of the brain is stimulated.
And to know the "lethal volume" of poison or medicine, animals are given many times of safety level to kill to get "the lethal volume". Even animals have not died, they are killed. And the law require animal exeriment. We feel the barrier is hard to break when we are told animal test is "for human being". But why do we have to choose one between animal and human? But is animal's life so cheep to be hundled in any ways by human?? In the name of science and medicine, cruel animal experiment is done every minutes. We now know that in any reason human being must not be used. And in the same point, animal life is same, I believe. We have to take alternative ways which does not use any life. And at lease if we still use, we need national level control, which now Japan does not have. Dog 20,000 Cat 2,000 Monkey 1,600 Rabbit 160,000 Hamster 80,000 Rat 3,000,000 Mouse 7,000,000 |
Universities, rearch centers, labs who does
animal experiment in JapanSend your voice to them The most simple and direct thing you can do is to deliver your voice to the experimenter and government on behalf of animals. If possible, telephone them directly, or sending fax or email, deliver your voice directly but politely to them. Not braming but telling them you does not wish animal victimization, and wish the law and inflastructure to protect animals. Making an appointment to talk directly with experimenter is one option to change the situation. Please send your opinion and how you feel from their homepage below (written in English) Animal experimentation is a must in law, but let them know that most people does not want them to take that way. Also please deliver your opinion to the government also (from Links to Japanese government (english) ) Animal experimentation is being done at various fields such as medicine, cleanser, chemical physics, food additives. Many ministries are related to the law. Laws can not be changed promptly. However delivering the voice to the government is surely one thing very important.

Non-animal research . . . A matter of life
and death
Not all medical research saves lives. Last
year millions of animals were
sacrificed in the race to find new cures
and treatments.
The Dr Hadwen Trust is funding non-animal
research into major health problems such
as cancer, heart disease, meningitis and
Alzheimer's disease. None of the Trust's
research uses animals or animal tissues,
and all of it contributes to the replacement
of animals whilst furthering research into
human medical problems.
Through the development and promotion of new humane techniques, our research projects could save many thousands of animals from future suffering in the laboratory, as well as making a vital contribution to the battle against these dreadful diseases. We are committed to saving lives tomorrow without taking life today. |

| Founded in 1985, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a non-profit organization supported by nearly 5,000 physicians and 100,000 laypersons. PCRM promotes preventive medicine through innovative programs, encourages higher standards for ethics and effectiveness in research and advocates broader access to medical services. | |
| Humane Society of United States (HSUS) Founded in 1954, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) envisions a world in which people satisfy the physical and emotional needs of domestic animals; protect wild animals and their environments; and change their relationships with other animals, evolving from exploitation and harm to respect and compassion. During the last 47 years, The HSUS has emerged as the world’s largest animal protection organization, encompassing nine regional offices; five affiliates; an international arm; 250 staff members, including veterinarians, wildlife biologists, lawyers, animal behaviorists, and other professionals; and seven million members and constituents. One in every fifty Americans supports The HSUS. The HSUS initiates major programs to protect America's most beloved companion animals, dogs and cats, but we also work to promote the protection of all animals, wild and domestic, through investigation, rehabilitation, public education, political and consumer advocacy, and litigation. |

| People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA), with more than seven hundred thousand
members, is the largest animal rights organization
in the world. Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated
to establishing and protecting the rights
of all animals. PETA operates under the simple
principle that animals are not ours to eat,
wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.
PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the fur trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and direct action. |

| British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection:
The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) was founded in 1898 by a remarkable woman called Frances Power Cobbe. Cobbe was at the forefront of the battle against vivisection, but was also a prominent campaigner against the workhouses and for the rights of women and children. The BUAV is the word's leading anti-vivisection campaigning organisation. The BUAV is dedicated to using all peaceful means possible to end animal experiments, both nationally and internationally. |

| AVAR | In 1981, the Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights was founded by Neil C. Wolff, D.V.M. and Nedim C. Buyukmihci, V.M.D. These veterinarians were concerned that the nonhuman animals they were trained to care for, treat, and heal in veterinary medical school were routinely being used and abused by society, sometimes for the most trivial of reasons. They recognized that the veterinary profession, under the banner of 'adequate veterinary care,' often supported practices which were completely contrary to the well-being of the animals. Thus, the AVAR was formed to educate the public and the veterinary profession to secure higher ideals of humanity and policy toward all nonhuman animals. |
| AFMA | Americans For Medical Advancement: Americans For Medical Advancement (AFMA) promotes human wellness by exposing the ineptitude and hazards of animal-modeled biomedical research. It educates the public, showing how government and charities misspend medical research dollars. |
| GUARDIANS - A Group Exposing Vivisection is a non-profit Melbourne (Australia) based organisation. The primary aim of GUARDIANS is to inform the public of the futility, unreliability and wastefulness of vivisection as a research method. | |

| National Anti Vivisection Society (UK). Founded in 1875, we are the world's premier anti-vivisection group. We campaign through public education, political lobbying, and publicity campaigns. We produce technical reports which reveal the errors of the animal-based method of research; we produce educational literature, books, films and publicity campaigns which draw attention to the plight of laboratory animals; our undercover Field Officers work in laboratories and obtain first-hand evidence of animal suffering and poor scientific practice; we fund non-animal scientific and medical research. Our research through the scientific literature has shown that, due to the physiological, structural, and psychological differences between species, animal experiments are unreliable, unethical and unnecessary. Indeed, animal experiments can actually harm people, because of misleading results from animal tests, when these are applied to the human situation. We are opposed to violence to humans or to other animals. | |

Hegarty established FRAME in November 1969.
FRAME was originally based in London, but
moved to Nottingham in January 1981. In 1994,
FRAME moved to its current headquarters,
Russell & Burch House.
FRAME considers that the current scale of live animal experimentation is unacceptable and should not be allowed to continue. However, FRAME recognises that the immediate and total abolition of all animal experiments is not possible, if vital medical research is to continue, and if new products are to be adequately tested. It is essential to test products in order to identify potential hazards to the environment and to the health of humans and other animals. FRAME advocates the Three Rs approach to this problem: |
