Who kills how ? No. 1
A: One, the permission is given by the Japanese government, which is the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. Another one, the permission is given by prefectural governer.
A: that is the whaling method using the ship whose size is under 48 ton. Using whaling gun, with harpoon with the net.
A: Small sized dolphins and whales which IWC does not have rights to control. "Small-type whale" means to hunt bottlenose dolphin, Dall's porpoise, bridled dolphin (spotted dolphin), blue-white dolphin, Risso's dolphin (grampus (Grampus griseus)), Baird's Beaked whale, short-finned pilot whale/shortfinned blackfish, false killer whale, rough toothed porpoise which are not controled by IWC. |

A: There are 3. The 3 is 1. small-type whaling, 2. drive hunt, and 3. goad-hunt.
A: That is hunting method (Dilphin/whaling killer uses "fishing method") which Taiji (Wakayama pref.) and Futo (Shizuoka pref) are doing. Several (5-6) boats hit the notes and drive in dolphins and embay. These are used to hunt small-type dolphin (Japanese killer use the word "whale) such as blue-white dolphin and blackfish dolphins.
A: In Hokkaido, Aomori-prefecture, Iwate prefecture, wakayama-prefecture and Okinawa, they are hunting Dall's porpoise. That are given permission by prefectural governor. Using long pole (bar) with small grains with net, they stab (jab it into) dolphins to hunt |

Not all Japanese are thinking this is our culture. In 1977, the moratorium was adopted, Japan raised the objections. Because if the objection was raised, the decition is beyond theIWC's reach. But United States announced that they were going to cut fishing quota
In 1993, Japan allegeed new management procedure, but the country like United States said the surveillance system is needed and Japan could not bring to fruition. For Japanese who does not want dolphin and whales being slaughtered, we expect IWC tohave a system strictly regulating the whaling countries. Not all Japanese are thinking this is our culture. |
Some people say Japan ignore international opinion and continue to killing dolphins. FAO requested Japan to cut fish catches, but Japan submitted comeback to FAO. Now, it is agreed that FAO is going to investigate the study how praying by whales have an impact on the resource of marine organism. Japan seems to think to betake oneself to work to FAO and CITES saying whales are important for severe food shortage for world poverty, and it is culture. Please send eail to FAO and CITES as well.
