"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
After Adam and Eve’s fall and expulsion from Eden, described in Genesis, humans were on a downward spiral. The freedom to choose that God had given humans was used by them to sink ever deeper into an abyss of evil. Finally God brought about the Flood; but even Noah and his family, who survived in the ark, strayed from God’s original intent.
I speculate that there must have been a lot of cannibalism and human sacrificing going on for God to allow humans to sacrifice animals. Yet, all through history, humans have latched on to the concessions that God reluctantly allows. They become emotionally attached to ethnicity, religion, tradition, culture; and instead of eliminating those rituals that are cruel and taking steps to be closer to God’s original intent, they choose to wallow in the mire, dragging down their offspring with them and punishing those who see and speak the truth. Depending on the object of choice, emotional attachment or loyalty can be beneficial or a stumbling block impeding progress toward God’s ideal.
