Happy New Year To All!
2011 ended on a mixed note for Habitat For Strays. On December 17, we lost Rudy, an 8 yr. old black & white feral. It may be a coincidence, but the day after applying a topical flea treatment Rudy went blind. Two days later his vision in his right eye began to return, Two days after that he unexpectedly passed away.
On December 28, we lost 14yr. old Nancy, In May, we rescued Nancy along with 6 others after they were abandoned in a rental home for 2 weeks. The owner was placed in a nursing home but no one cared enough to remove the cats. The homeowner notified H.F.S. and we took in the starving, frightened felines. Nancy was sick but recovered after a couple of weeks. However she probably couldn't adjust to the new lifestyle. At the end, Nancy was not alone. We were there petting her when she passed away and began a new journey.
On a brighter note, we have 2 new additions to our Feline Family-1 1/2 year old grey tabby sisters, Precious and Angel. Their owner had surgery and was unable to care for her cats any longer since the person with whom she is living is allergic. Therefore, these sweet cats needed a new home and we were glad to provide one.
With over 100 cats to care for every day we are in need of a lot of financial support from kind-hearted people who believe all pets deserve a home for life. With your help we will be able to say yes the next time the phone rings for a feline in need.
All The Best,
Richard Dineen, President
