The Ministry for God's Animals is, at this time, a United
Church of Christ initiative, though we are hopeful that it
will spread to other denominations.
We aim to remind our brothers and sisters in Christ that
animals belong to God, not humankind, and we have a sacred
responsibility to treat animals with compassion and respect.
Recognizing this, the United Church of Christ passed a resolution
"Respect for Animals" in 1993, but there has been
little subsequent action.
We aim to put animal issues on the UCC "radar screen,"
encouraging Christian Education classes on animals issues,
pastoral guidance on human obligations to God's animals, and
mindfulness of animal issues when planning church functions,
such as dinners and sales.
