Factoid - Oil Consumption
According to the Sierra Club:
Raising the miles per gallon standards to
40 mpg for cars and light trucks would cut
carbon dioxide pollution by 600 million metric tons, save consumers at
least 45 billion each year at the gas pump, and save three million barrels
of oil per day.
This is more oil than we get from Persian Gulf imports,
the Artic wildlife refuge, and California offshore oil drilling combined.
