President's Message
Enthusiasm, activism and passion, I really like these words and what they imply.
An enthusiastic person is one who is alive, caring, interested and interesting. Along with
these words goes vegetarianism which was first used in the 1840s by the British Vegetarian
Society, and had nothing to do with vegetables. The society's founders based the name on
the Latin word vegetus meaning active, lively or vigorous- so you can see the connection.
A new year is right around the corner; the perfect time to make changes. If you
are not active or enthusiastic perhaps you should work on it. One has to work at being
happy, things don't just happen, you have to make them happen. It all starts with a
healthy body and that healthy, active, lively body can be had with a total vegetarian
lifestyle. That is what the MHVS is all about to guide you in how to get there. On the
third Monday of the month a nutritional disscusion is held. Call for more information.
I hope you can make the Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner on November 26 and the Holiday
Recognition Dinner on December 19.
Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year to all!
Love, Rae VeggieRae@aol.com
