Winter 2001-2002 Issue
Much has happened during the past few weeks since I wrote
a letter of resignation. Yes, I am sadly resigning after 8
years ó much too long a term of office.
As I explained in my letter of resignation, we have come a
long way and I believe that we have just begun to achieve what
we can still achieve. I think a new President will bring new
ideas and enthusiasm. I donít intend to leave MHVS Ė after all,
this is my baby. I raised it from birth and will always be
proud to take an active part in it.
I always want to be remembered
as the founder of the Mid-Hudson Vegetarian
We have found a dedicated and effective member who has
accepted the call to become our new President, which will be
voted, and we hope agreed upon in our March 9th Annual
Meeting. She is Roberta Schiff.
Robbie has a lot of good
ideas for the Society and is enthusiastic about taking this
labor-intensive position. I am
elated and it seems that some of her enthusiasm
is rubbing off on me. Iím sure youíll
experience it too, and that is what we need to keep moving
forward in new expanded directions.
I hope that everyone will come to our Holiday Party on
Dec. 29th. We have always gone to a restaurant, so this is a
change. We can mingle more, get to know one another
better, and have some fun.
Happy Holidays and a healthy New Year.
Peace and Love,
Rae Schlecht, President
