Peace Village. She especially recommends the
"Food and Spirituality Retreat" on June 1-23 and
"The Art of Living, Beyond Death and Dying" by Roger Cole, M.D. on
Sunday, July 14, from 5 to 7 PM.

J ULY
4TH,
THURSDAY
2-5 PM.
Columbia-Greene Chapter sponsors their
2nd Annual Vegetarian Picnic/BBQ in
the Park.
Crellin Community Park, Chatham, on Route 66 just one
mile north of the Chatham traffic circle. Bluegrass music by Jody Rael &
The Columbia Bluegrass Band. Bring
vegetarian dish to share (no meat-fish-dairy-eggs-honey). Veggie burgers
and dogs provided.
$5 if you bring a dish, $15 otherwise.
No RSVP necessary. Kids,
dogs, non-vegetarians welcome. 518-392-VEGI (8344).

20, SATURDAY
at 12 Noon.
Board Meeting and Picnic.
A short Board Meeting (all members welcome) will be followed by
a Picnic at 2 PM (all welcome). Both events will take place at
the home of Robbie Schiff, 16 South Street, Rhinebeck. The picnic will
be held on Crystal Lake, which happens to be adjacent to her back
yard. Please RVSP.

Cook with
Lauren and Robbie, Part 3 - "Liven up Mid-Summer with
Raw Foods." $20 - RSVPs are
necessary.

28, SUNDAY.
Rhinebeck
Farmer’s Market.
MHVS will have an information table at
the Rhinebeck Farmer’s Market. We can
give out information and talk with people. We
can also give out food samples (the best way to reach out). As it is
Corn Day at the market we will offer dishes
made with fresh corn. Volunteers needed
to staff the table and to prepare food. One
or two hour shifts available between 10AM and
2 PM. This is a good chance to do some
needed social action. Call to volunteer.

11, SUNDAY
at 1:30 PM.
Board meeting
in Kingston at the home of Rae Schlecht
(35 Catskill Avenue). (Yes, we are back
to our second Sunday of the month schedule.) Call
Rae at 845-338-8223.

24, SATURDAY,
6:30 PM.
Indian dinner.
MHVS member Nirja Kumar will
prepare a vegan Indian dinner at her home in Rhinebeck. $25 per person.
This is a repeat event at
the request of those who attended last year. The food will be vegan, of
course, with a mixture of spicy and mild dishes.

LABOR
DAY
WEEKEND
(August 29-September 2).
Columbia County Fair.
Vegetarian Information Booth.
"Where do you get
your protein?" "How do you cook tofu?" "What do you eat?"
Come answer questions like these and more as we talk with friends and
neighbors in this fun and festive setting.
Volunteers are
needed to help design and staff the booth - come for at least two hours
and we will give you a free pass for the fair. Call Joan at
