The mission of the Mid-Hudson Vegetarian Society, Inc. is to promote the vegetarian ethic in the Mid-Hudson (New York) region, educate the community and aid anyone in the pursuit of a totally vegetarian (vegan) cruelty-free and healthful lifestyle.

MHVS Members Get Around
Peter Muller, Andy Glick, Melanie Carpenter, and Roberta Schiff attended "Animal Rights 2003" this June in Washington D.C.
August found the following people in Johnstown PA for Vegetarian Summerfest: Rae Schlecht, Zinnia Konvisor, Carol and Arthur Barel, Melanie Carpenter, George Davis, Roberta Schiff and Frank and Mary Hoffman. Rae and Zinna are on the Board of North American Vegetarian Society, the sponsoring organization, and worked hard as volunteers during the five-day conference.
For the second year, Frank and Mary Hoffman gave a Sunday Morning Memorial Service for Animals at Summerfest that was both beautiful and moving.
All of us who attended the conferences gained knowledge from the many and varied sessions that were offered, and renewed our commitment to living and sharing the vegetarian ethic. We will give you the dates for the 2004 conferences as soon as they are available. Think Summer 2004.
MHVS also had information tables at the following conferences or health fairs: Rhinebeck Farmers' Market (Aug. 24 and Sept. 21); Benedictine Hospital Conference on Integrative Medicine at Ulster County Community College (Sept. 13); Marist College Health Fair, (Sept. 19); and Rhinebeck Health Foods 25 Anniversary (Sept. 20). Thanks to Zinnia, Melanie, and Rae for volunteering.
We need help in Poughkeepsie at two different events on Oct 25 and 26th. Call the office. These outreach events are an excellent way to connect with the community.
