The mission of the Mid-Hudson Vegetarian Society, Inc. is to promote the vegetarian ethic in the Mid-Hudson (New York) region, educate the community and aid anyone in the pursuit of a totally vegetarian (vegan) cruelty-free and healthful lifestyle.

MAY 22, Saturday 6:00 PM ­ dinner at Café G on John Street in Kingston. $25 per person for a gourmet, five-course vegan dinner, tips included. You may bring wine. Limited seating. Call now to RSVP. MHVS office 845.876.2626 or 845.338.8223.

June 13, Sunday 1:30 PM ­ Board Meeting, Rhinebeck. RSVP please. June 19, Saturday 1:00 PM - Showing of the new film about factory farming called "Peaceable Kingdom," with a talk by the "mad cowboy," Howard Lyman, sponsored by Catskill Animal Sanctuary (CAS). Admission is free. Following the film and talk, there will be a wine and uncheese reception sponsored by CAS and MHVS at the Church of the Messiah Parish Hall, only one block away.

July 4, Sunday 2:00 PM-5:00 PM ­ Fourth Annual July 4th Vegetarian Picnic - Crellin Park (Chatham, NY). Bring vegan potluck dish to share, your own reusable plate and utensils, beverage, sunscreen and something to sit on. Swimming, basketball and natural trails available. Musicians, kids, dogs and part-time vegetarians always welcome. $5 adult with dish ($15 without). Proceeds will go to the Crellin Morris Association summer youth programs and for the care of Anne, a pig rescued from the county fair last year.
