Lobby Day Proceeds Despite Snow
Three MHVS members were signed and paid up to go to Albany on
March 16 for
"Lobby Day."
The event was sponsored by the League of Humane Voters (LOHV), Fund for Animals,
the Humane Society of the U.S., Farm Sanctuary, NYS Human Association, and
EarthSave. Unfortunately, the threatened storms got in the way for our little
group, but we learned that about 40 brave activists braved the storm. The
intrepid group was there to lobby for the following bills:
(1) a ban of force-feeding of ducks and geese for foie gras;
(2) a bill to protect against downed ³food² animals;
(3) a bill to ban canned shoots: and
(4) a ³home rule² bill to give local governments the power
to ban trapping.
For more information about these bills, contact Peter and Anne
Muller of LOHV and Wildlife Watch
PeterMuller@verizon.net or call
845.225.4227.
