The mission of the Mid-Hudson Vegetarian Society, Inc. is to
promote the vegetarian ethic in the Mid-Hudson (New York) region, educate the community
and aid anyone in the pursuit of a totally vegetarian (vegan) cruelty-free and healthful
lifestyle.

October 20, Saturday, 6:30 pm – MHVS is having a restaurant
outing to a favorite spot, Agra Tandoor, in Rhinebeck for $22 per
person. The Restaurant is on Route 9, a couple miles south of Rhinebeck
(2.5 miles south of the junction of Routes 9 and 308).
November 17 Saturday – The American Vegan Society invites MHVS
members to join them in celebration of World Vegan Month. They are
hosting a luncheon at Candle 79 in New York City. Candle 79 is an
upscale all-vegan restaurant. In addition to a gourmet meal, Dr. Milton
Mills will speak. Also on the program are Pam Rice of Vivavegie Society
and Roberta Schiff (doing comedy) and Leif Erich (acoustic guitar). $85
per person, reserve by calling American Vegan Society at 856.694.2887.

November 18, Sunday, 1 pm – “Thanksliving Dinner” at the
Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary (Those who attended in 2006 gave it rave
reviews.) You'll be warm and toasty inside a large heated tent in the
goat pasture, surrounded by stunning views of the Catskill Mountains.
Naturally the turkeys will be joining guests at a table set especially
for them. In addition to an amazing spread that will leave everyone with
very full bellies, non-edible treats will include: Comedy by Dan Piraro
("Bizarro"); acoustic music by Elizabeth Mitchell & Daniel Littleton of
"Ida", known for their lovely, subtle folk-flavored indie-rock; Paul
Shapiro, senior director of Humane Society of the US's Factory Farming
campaign, will lay some truth bombs on the peeps; Colleen Patrick-Goudreau,
founder of Compassionate Cooks will speak about the joy of vegan
