Saturday, August 23, join MHVS for a Veg-B-Q meet and greet at the lovely moun­tain home of Robin Henderson and Nate Williams.

It is a ways on up into the mountains, 277 Maple Lane in New Kingston, near Margaretville, but a beautiful destination that is very much worth the scenic drive (call for directions). Grilling of vegan goodies begins about noon. Best stuff from the grill includes Field Roast vegan sausages. Soft drinks are on us, too. Saturday, September 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Albany Vegetarian Society is presenting its second annual Vegetarian Expo. The event is held in the convention center in Saratoga Springs. There will be dozens of vegetarian merchants and non­profits displaying their wares. The slate of top-notch speakers includes: Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, T. Collin Campbell, Phd., Jeff Novick, RD, Brenda Davis, RD and George Eisman, RD. Visit www.nyvegetarianexpo.org for more information.

Sunday, October 19, Mid-Hudson Veg meets and greets over the all-vegan deli and comfort food offerings of Karma Road in New Paltz. Sample widely and taste swath of the offerings Seth and Jenn cook up for hip and the healthy. Karma Road is at 11 Main Street in New Paltz (near the bridge). Join us at 6:30. Karma Road offers a MHVS member discount, so stop in and eat for less any time. Look them up at www.karmaroad.net.

Sunday, November 23, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary presents their third annual ThanksLiving event. Keep an eye on www.woodstockfas.org for details.

Thursday, November 27, 1:30 p.m., the Mid-Hudson Vegetarian Society presents is classic Thanksgiving Feast at the Milan Town Hall. Bring a vegan dish to share. The Veg Society provides appetizers and stuffing. Celebrate Thanksgiving vegan style with a bountiful meal for which no animals had to suffer. Price $10 for adults and teens (or $25 without a dish); $5 for ages 5-12; under 5 years, free. We will once again have the ever-pop­ular vegan dessert contest. To enter, bring a dessert in addition to your other dish. The event is limited to 100 people and we sell out fast so reserve as early as possible. More details will follow in the Fall newsletter.
