Summerfest recalled
by Rae Schlecht
Every once in a while something comes along that
changes our lives forever. For me, one of those things was attending my
first Summerfest back in 1994. “What is Summerfest?” you say. Summerfest
is a five-day vegan conference sponsored by the North American
Vegetarian Society (NAVS) of which I am a proud member of the board. It
is held at the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown, PA.
At Summerfest, great natural vegan food is prepared
under the direction of international gold medal winning chef Ken
Bergeron. Educational workshops and lectures on health, lifestyle
issues, animal rights and environmental issues are held. There are vegan
cooking classes, all presented by leading vegan doctors, dieticians,
chefs and social activists. There are social gatherings for singles,
families and children. There are excercise programs, yoga, meditation,
and star gazing amongst the many, many activities. There are also
wonderful children’s programs. You have a chance to make new vegan
friends. Everything is included in the price.
Do this today, as the rates are cheaper earlier you
register. Five days at Summerfest!! Your life will be changed for the
better, forever. I guarantee it.
