The Coalition for New York City Animals is presently launching this web site
with a concentration on the carriage horse issue. At this time, we cannot give
other animal issues the attention they deserve.

· the elephants and tigers and other animals who are forced to work and
perform in the
circus and all the cruelty involved (behind the scenes of
course) Photo - right by PETA
· the animal research (vivisection) that occurs behind the venerable doors
of NYC’s prestigious universities (such as
Columbia and NYU) and other research institutions … the
vivisection that is done on primates, pigs, rabbits, rodents, cats and dogs in
the name of “science.”

· the occasional slaughterhouses spotted around the boroughs – one in
Queens was the temporary home of
Queenie – the lucky cow who escaped
and finally ended up at Farm Sanctuary rather than on someone’s plate. See
photo - right
· The many chickens who are so abused on factory farms and slaughterhouses
to end up in a neighborhood
KFC bucket.
· Pit bull fighting; cock fighting; the occasional bull fight – all illegal
and barbaric
· the NYC pigeons – who struggle to get by and are hated by so many -
thanks to all of you who have rescued the sick and injured ones
· the baby birds who fall from their nest in the spring; or the sick ones
who need rescuing
· the beautiful squirrels and ducks who live in Central Park – and the
occasional raccoon and coyote
· Pale Male,
Lola and their off spring – who captured the imagination of the city last year
when they were evicted from their Fifth Avenue apartment

· Hal, the young, spirited coyote from Central Park who died an untimely
death while being ear tagged. To enlarge the photo of
Hal, click on the
