I Will Not Let You Go

An Animal Rights Poem from All-Creatures.org

All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize. This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.

I Will Not Let You Go
By Anonymous

The rabbit held tight in stocks
Unable to close his eyes, to blink
To wash away this poison, blinding him
To scream, to be saved, to be left alone
To go back to his rightful home

This chick, unable to move
Unable to stand, sit, turn around
Kept his whole short life cage bound
Fed drugs to grow, never to know
The outside world
Or the sun and grass
And his rightful home

So I will not grant you ignorance
I will not let you go
I will not let you live blind in peace
When others live blind in pain, for you
Again and again, hundreds each day
I will keep you just this minute longer
To educate your cruel, uncaring heart
About the massacres that are held daily
In your name

But still
It does not reach your brain
And still
Lives are worth less than human gain
Still the devil of Earth reigns!

But I will not let you go
