Letter From Michael Budkie about UCONN Animal Rights - 14 Dec 2006
Justin Goodman who has run the now successful campaign
at UCONN said this about SAEN:
"Our current campaign against the University of
Connecticut Health Center would not have been possible without the
diligent work of Michael Budkie and SAEN. Without a group like this, it
would be nearly impossible for all of us to navigate through and make
sense of the myriad of information out there about every institution
that conducts animal experimentation. "
Justin Goodman
This was done just by following the paper, filing
complaints, etc.
He told me that they did about 10 protests, most of
which were actually leafleting events.
This shows that our approach WORKS!

Rats, mice, birds, amphibians and other animals have
been excluded from coverage by the Animal Welfare Act. Therefore research
facility reports do not include these animals. As a result of this
situation, a blank report, or one with few animals listed, does not mean
that a facility has not performed experiments on non-reportable animals. A
blank form does mean that the facility in question has not used covered
animals (primates, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, pigs,
sheep, goats, etc.). Rats and mice alone are believed to comprise over 90%
of the animals used in experimentation. Therefore the majority of animals
used at research facilities are not even counted.
