An animal rights group targeted UCLA and research facilities across the country today

Last Chance for Animals released a report saying research labs keep primates in horrible conditions... causing unnecessary suffering for the animals on basic research that has very little benefit to human health.

The study author .... Michael Budkie... says what's worse.... is similar research is being conducted in multiple labs.

Budkie says the public needs to know that 1.6 billion dollars in federal money is being spent to keep this research going.

But UCLA released a statement saying its labs are in strict compliance with all laws.... and the research being conducted helps save lives and enhance the quality of life for millions of people.
