7/26/07: ULAM PE: are of alopecia on anterior aspect of R forearm
with coalescing raised/thickened red skin (old wound healing) small
are of alopecia L forearm, suspect pt. is picking at both areas,
areas are
dry, no med. recommended at this time.
3/21/07: ULAM visual exam: smalla area of alopecia on forehead
above eyes (growing in), patchy alopecia on distal hind limbs, wears
long sleeved jacket due to history of self mutilation.
1/12/07-1/30/07: reported for seld induced injury to forearms, see
hardcopy for extensive notes, determined that there was a
personality
conflict with another animal in this room, that animal was relocated
and the behavior stopped.

Rats, mice, birds, amphibians and other animals have been excluded from coverage by the Animal Welfare Act. Therefore research facility reports do not include these animals. As a result of this situation, a blank report, or one with few animals listed, does not mean that a facility has not performed experiments on non-reportable animals. A blank form does mean that the facility in question has not used covered animals (primates, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, pigs, sheep, goats, etc.). Rats and mice alone are believed to comprise over 90% of the animals used in experimentation. Therefore the majority of animals used at research facilities are not even counted.
