Government Reports Confirm Mass Murders at Lovelace Lab; Watchdog group files Federal Complaint & Demands LRRI Tour
Albuquerque, NM – A source connected to the Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute has leaked information regarding the mass murder of 300 non-human primates and a previously undisclosed number of dogs at the Lovelace lab during 2011 which has now been confirmed by recently obtained federal reports.
According to this inside source the monkeys were killed 30 per day until the total of 300 primates were exterminated, and this was to be followed by the massacre of a beagle colony of unspecified size. Recently obtained government reports now confirm the deaths of hundreds of animals at the Lovelace Lab.
USDA reports now confirm huge declines in the animal population at Lovelace during the summer of 2011. USDA inspection reports for 3/3/11 disclose a primate population of 951 and a dog population of 293. However, by 9/14/11 the primate population had plummeted to 646 while the dog population had declined to 183. During this time period LRRI killed 300 primates and 100 dogs, exactly what was disclosed by the whistleblower
Stop Animal Exploitation Now, a research watchdog organization, has filed an official complaint with the USDA, seeking an investigation of the now-confirmed animal deaths. Major concerns exist regarding proper euthanasia methods.
LRRI has previously been fined over $21,750 in the suffocation death of a primate, and federal sources have confirmed that the lab is currently under investigation by the IES division of the USDA for the deaths of two dogs (1 by suffocation, 1 by exsanguination), as well as for information provided by whistleblowers.
Stop Animal Exploitation NOW! (SAEN) has also contacted Robert W. Rubin, CEO of the Lovelace facility to insist on the opportunity to tour the LRRI facility (with news media) as well as to examine the post-mortem of animals who died at LRRI during 2011.
“Monkeys and dogs must not be killed and thrown away like so much trash,” said Michael A. Budkie, A.H.T., Executive Director, SAEN. “We have asked Mr. Rubin for the opportunity to tour the LRRI facility and examine the post-mortem records for animals who died within this facility to determine that all laws are being followed. If LRRI has nothing to hide, then the facility will be opened up to me and to local news media.”
The USDA inspection reports are available from SAEN.
