Let’s Tell It Like It Is!

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”  (Revelation 12:9)

God does not deceive.  Jesus does not deceive.  Satan is the great deceiver of the whole earth, a genius at being sneaky and difficult to expose oftentimes.  What seems so ordinary, so usual (and therefore seemingly so correct and ok), can be riddled with harmful, evil deception which can go unnoticed and unchallenged for eons of time.  Even the most God-fearing, well-meaning of our two-legged species can be participating in Satan’s dirty work with absolutely no awareness.

Think about tradition.  Think about great cover-ups going on all the time.  We label muscle meat from cattle “beef,.” which veils one’s mind from connecting with the fact that it was part of a living animal person’s body, who had to die so it could be called “beef.”  Likewise, “pork” was really part of some pig’s body, who no doubt lived an agonizing life and was killed mercilessly.

The roasts, and platters of chicken and turkey at “nice” family and church dinners are really carcasses of slaughtered animal persons, which have already started to spoil and rot.

The millions of pairs of designer sport shoes on the market are really the hides of incredibly precious small animals – dogs, cats, whatever.

The careful, attractive displays of meat on sale in the stores make the horrible reality of factory farming seem irrelevant and unimportant and hide it.

You get the idea.  The list could go on and on.  Kind of reminds me of the glittering, flashy lights of a casino, making gambling look fun, exciting, and tantalizing, while hiding the ugly history and reality of gambling – gangsterism, violence, prostitution, addictions, ruined lives, and so forth.

GOD WANTS US TO TELL IT LIKE IT IS AND TO LIVE IT LIKE IT IS IN KINDNESS AND IN LOVE.

Don’t “buy into” the idea that just because something to eat or wear is attractively displayed for us that it is good for us, or for the animals.  We need to be really cautious of what we buy to eat or to feed to our animals.  We need to carefully read all labels. Cancer causing chemicals are ubiquitous.  GMO products are all over the place, as are bad, unhealthy fats.  Cancer causing chemicals are in shampoos, body lotions, and other toiletries, too.  Toiletries and cosmetics have often been tested on defenseless animals.

It seems to me there are two practices we can develop or increase which will help all concerned.  (1.)  We can include in our conversations with others the truth about labels and where substances  come from, in a polite manner.  (2.)  We can educate ourselves in terms of what’s in foods, for ourselves and our pets, and only purchase that which is truly healthy and truly kindly produced.

If we do not use wise, informed discretion, we may indeed end up (1.)  being really hurt by the deceptive, harmful “system” out there, and (2.) participating in and aiding hidden evil who the old Devil is invariably behind!   Such involvement is definitely not suitable for those who desire to please God, whose bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and who love and care for God’s creation.  Just because something is traditional and looks good, does NOT mean that it is good!
