PIE DOUGH FOR ANY OCCASION
Makes a double crust, 9 inch pie shell
Though this is a very basic recipe, it’s very
versatile. You can use any type of flour, and it works well for sweet,
as well as dinner, pies.
2 cups flour of your choice
1 tsp. sea salt
2/3 cup shortening (such as Spectrum-brand) or vegan margarine
2 Tbsp. Chilled vegan margarine
4 Tbsp. ice water
- Sift together the flour and sea salt.
- Combine the shortening and margarine.
- Cut half of the shortening into the flour mixture
with fingertips until it’s pea-sized clumps. Then cut remaining
shortening/margarine in until it resembles a coarse meal.
- Sprinkle with the ice water, and combine to form
a dough ball.
May be rolled out and used at once, or
