Letters THE BRUNT OF THE HUNT
18 January 2004
Hunters don't harvest, they kill. Bears are living,
breathing mammals with the ability to suffer as well as care for each
other and their young. They are not rows of corn. Let's drop the
euphemisms.
Humans are the most overpopulated species on the
planet. We're encroaching on the bears' territory, not the other way
around.
Before we unleash another round of bullets into the
heads and hearts of wild animals, we should talk about curbing our own
numbers.
