Letter from Kara - 5 Sep 2004 Hi, My name is Kara and I am 14 and live in Australia and I was asked to do a
persuasive speech to my year 9 class I choose to do animal cruelty. I am an animals lover but I never knew too
much about animal abuse and what happens in rodeos.
As I was looking for info on my speech,
I came across you site, which is great to see that
people do care about animals and there rights. I was in tears after finding out that horses are tormented and killed regularly just because a cowboy wants to look good
in front of a crowd. I horse ride and wish that this would stop and be banned everywhere. Thanks for you site and for teaching me about animal abuse and what I can do.
I am very passionate about this topic and someday hope that animals everywhere will be safe. Many thanks, Kara xx

Kara, I cannot thank you enough for your lovely note, which came at the best
time possible: someone else had just sent me a story in the L.A. Times that
celebrated rodeos, even while mentioning in the article that a bull
collapsed during an event. I cry as well to read these stories where the
press, who were probably paid off, writes that rodeos are 'wonderful,' even
though they are blatantly cruel. So your letter came just in time; when I was your age all I thought about
was my hairstyle. If young people like you are upset about hurting those
who cannot speak for themselves, the world will become a better place, I
know it. I thank you so much for contacting me, and I wish a blessed life for you
and yours, Kiley Blackman Fair Use Notice: This document may contain
