Letters Don't purchase fur this holiday season Published in THE JOURNAL NEWS 12/14/2005
www.thejournalnews.com , letters
to the editor: Don't purchase fur this holiday season (Original publication: December 14, 2005) Noted lecturer Dr. Wayne Dyer cites studies that indicate doing something
kind raises your level of serotonin, the "feel good" hormone; the same
studies report that even watching a kindness being done has the same effect.
This holiday season, consider taking advantage of this easy way to feel
good by not only doing kind acts for people, but for animals as well. And in
addition, to not only remember homeless animals in shelters but to think
long and hard before purchasing real fur items for your gift list — to
remember the suffering you're contributing to while you run your hand over
that fox jacket or rabbit vest — and instead, to turn away and say "No" to
cruelty purchases. For some readers this will be a real effort: but I truly
believe you will feel good, knowing you've chosen to make a gesture of
kindness that perhaps you hadn't done before — and knowing that your
kindness may help change the world to a more compassionate place for all the
beings who share this earth. Wishing everyone a wonderful, blessed holiday. Kiley Blackman, Yonkers Fair Use Notice: This document may contain
