Letters Another horse dies Published in AM NEW YORK, 10/11/06 Shame on Julius Stanton for saying he's 'more worried' about the boy than
the horse ('Boy Hurt After Horse Hits Cab,' Oct. 9). That's just his
pathetic attempt to mitigate his liability after allowing 12- and
13-year-old boys to ride his horses near traffic. If he truly cared about the children's well-being he wouldn't have let
them ride huge living animals near traffic. Furthermore, when the Federation of Black Cowboys, who own this stable,
were asked if they'd close this business that exploits animals, they
replied, "No -- that's what being a cowboy is all about." Wrong: that's what turning a profit at the expense of lives is all about.
This incident marks a total of six horses that have died or been injured
on NYC streets since the beginning of the year, including carriage horses,
which is an outrage. --Kiley Blackman, spokesperson, Animal Defenders of Westchester Fair Use Notice: This document may contain
