Make Your own DOG BONES

1 3/4 cup flour
2 T. wheat germ, toasted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sesame seeds
Rind of one lemon
12 T. butter or margarine
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup ground walnuts
1/2 T. vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients. Knead until thoroughly blended. Divide dough into 6 parts. Roll each part to resemble a cucumber. Wrap loosely in wax paper. Freeze. When needed, thaw and slice into 1/2 " thick slices (across roll). Make bone shapes of each slice. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place cookies on an un-greased cookie pan. Bake about 13 minutes. Makes 6 or 8 cookies per roll. You can also roll this dough and use cookie cutters of bones, cats, hydrants, etc.
