The Controversial Dangers of Drinking Raw Milk

"Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary"
By Robert Cohen

"Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row."
- English Nursey Rhyme

Many people including Sally Fallon
of the Price Pottenger Institute and
Dr. Mercola of the Planet Uranus promote
the consumption of raw milk and raw meat as
components of a healthy diet. The pro raw milk
argument is eloquently stated on Sally's website:

And then there is the contrarian experience
of a lady named Mary who, after drinking her
glass of raw milk had a real life/near death

Mary is contrary, and yesterday's ONE-MINUTE video relates one woman's tragic raw milk experience.

This May 15, 2011 video appears on the Food Poison Journal website:
or Tiny URL:

It is my belief that the purchase of raw milk should not be illegal. Neither should the purchase of raw apple cider or raw sprouts be illegal. Nor should the purchase of cigarettes, alcohol, or hemp products be illegal.

HOWEVER, by its very nature, raw milk ALWAYS contains bacteria from a cow's colon. ALWAYS! When infected cows are milked (all cows are infected), the feces drips down the underside of the cow and flavors the milk. Some people enjoy the taste. It shuld be everybody's fee choice to drink feces-tainted liquids with their Rice Krispies.

On the website, one can find sources for raw milk in every one of America's states. By transporting raw milk from one state to another, the time that raw milk remains in a container increases, giving the naturally occurring salmonella, E. coli, and other bacteria the opportunity to reproduce.

At room temperature, bacterial counts double every 20 minutes. Even when shipped on refrigerated trucks, raw milk bacterial counts will double every day. The insanity of transporting raw milk from California's Happy Cows to the East Coast will result in many unhappy New York kids.

This is NOT a Constitutional issue. Enacting a law to permit the transportation of raw milk by trucks over long distances is a dangerous threat to children.
