Letter Writing Does Make a Difference

On October 17th, an auction was scheduled to take place at a school in North Carolina to help raise funds for the NY families.  Unfortunately their plans were to include a Jack Russell puppy to be auctioned off as part of raising the money.

It is wonderful that the school children participated in helping those in need.   However, they should be educated that animals are not a throw away "item” to be used in an auction and that they require many years of care by a responsible person/family.  Using a live animal in such an event could result in the animal ending up in a shelter, on the street or neglected.

Concerned individuals, expressing their reasons why one should not be used in an auction, sent polite letters to the school.  A few days later it was announced that the school decided not to use the puppy as part of their auction.

Please keep writing the letters for the animals who need us, they do make a difference.

Response Letter from Principle Beth Rhye:

In a message 3:53:53 PM:

”We had no idea this would cause so many people such great concern.  It was never our intention to do anything illegal, immoral or unethical.  We have decided to take the puppy out of our auction.  Please pass the word along to your fellow supporters”.
