John 9:5 Bible Commentary
“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Jesus is the light of the world; He brings hope where there is no hope; He comforts those who are sad and distraught, and He shines His spiritual light into the darkness of this corrupt and evil world.
However, His light did not end with His death, because for all of us who are truly born again and live in God’s heavenly will, we are also charged with bringing that light into the world around us at all times.
In other word, we are keeping His word alive, even 2,000 years after His death.
We can also look at this in another way, by taking a look at John 14:12, for in it Jesus confirms that we who truly believe can do the works of God, our heavenly Father, maybe not everything, but enough to keep His light shining.
12. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father.
This is why we believe Jesus told the disciples, and us, by its inclusion in the Bible, “We must work the works of Him who sent Me.”
This really isn’t any different than us praying for our Father’s heavenly will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, as we are taught in the Lord’s Prayer, and then actually applying His heavenly will to everything we do in our lives.
And a vital part of this is having God’s unconditional caring love, compassion, and empathy that we have always talked about as being part of our entire life or nature, and we must let it be seen by all others.
This is how we are continually shining His heavenly light in this corrupt world.
