The US Government has been telling the public for many years that smoking and nicotine are harmful to human health. Thus, it makes absolutely no sense to deliberately torture animals year after year to prove that they already know the truth, as they have been doing at the Oregon NPRC\u00a0(National Primate Research Center).<\/p>\n

Eliot Spindel of the Oregon NPRC\u00a0(National Primate Research Center) has squandered more than $7 million in federal money since 1992 on experiments in which monkeys are impregnated and implanted with catheters that expose their unborn babies to nicotine. The babies are then cut from the mothers’ bodies, placed in chambers to have their lung function measured, and killed and mutilated so that their organs can be examined\u2014all before their second day of life.

In this and many other cases, the US Government is the primary funder and supporter of institutionalized animal cruelty, which causes millions of laboratory animals to suffer horribly.<\/p>\n

We need to work together to end all forms of animal exploitation. There is no excuse for Eliot Spindel\u2019s torture of animals at the Oregon NPRC\u00a0(National Primate Research Center). In our opinion the facility should be closed.<\/p>\n
