Forgiveness Without Sacrifice \u2013 Part 04<\/h2>\n

We closed our previous discussion on forgiveness without sacrifice with a reference to Isaiah 1:10-21. In these verses we will see that neither sacrifice nor incense brings forgiveness.<\/p>\n

10. Hear the word of the LORD,
\nYou rulers of Sodom;
\nGive ear to the instruction of our God,
\nYou people of Gomorrah.<\/p>\n

God is so angry with Israel for turning away from His will and distorting the truth that He is swearing at them by comparing them to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.<\/p>\n

11. “What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me?”
\nSays the LORD.
\n“I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams,
\nAnd the fat of fed cattle.
\nAnd I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats.<\/p>\n

God, through Isaiah, is plainly saying that He doesn\u2019t want any animal sacrifices.<\/p>\n

12. “When you come to appear before Me,
\nWho requires of you this trampling of My courts?<\/p>\n

13. “Bring your worthless offerings no longer,
\nIncense is an abomination to Me.
\nNew moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies-
\nI cannot endure iniquity and the solemn assembly.<\/p>\n

Here God adds that He also doesn\u2019t want incense offerings either. He just wants their obedience.<\/p>\n

14. “I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts,
\nThey have become a burden to Me.
\nI am weary of bearing them.<\/p>\n

15. “So when you spread out your hands in prayer,
\nI will hide My eyes from you,
\nYes, even though you multiply prayers,
\nI will not listen.
\nYour hands are covered with blood.<\/p>\n

16. “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
\nRemove the evil of your deeds from My sight.
\nCease to do evil,<\/p>\n

The Lord is here telling us what He doesn\u2019t want, and then He tells us what He really wants from us in order for us to be forgiven.<\/p>\n

17. Learn to do good;
\nSeek justice,
\nReprove the ruthless;
\nDefend the orphan,
\nPlead for the widow.<\/p>\n

18. “Come now, and let us reason together,”
\nSays the LORD,
\n“Though your sins are as scarlet,
\nThey will be as white as snow;
\nThough they are red like crimson,
\nThey will be like wool.<\/p>\n

19. “If you consent and obey,
\nYou will eat the best of the land;<\/p>\n

This is indeed forgiveness without sacrifice.<\/p>\n

20. “But if you refuse and rebel,
\nYou will be devoured by the sword.”
\nTruly, the mouth of the LORD has spoken.<\/p>\n

21. How the faithful city has become a harlot,
\nShe who was full of justice!
\nRighteousness once lodged in her,
\nBut now murderers.
\nNASB<\/p>\n

And those who continue to sacrifice animals are considered to be murderers. We believe that those who treat animals so horribly on factory farms and in laboratories are no different. They are all premeditated murderers.<\/p>\n
