Now, we may not be perfect as Jesus is, but shouldn\u2019t we at least be doing everything in our power to listen to the unction of the Holy Spirit, and pray for the Lord\u2019s help in doing this, even as a major part of our New Year\u2019s resolution?<\/p>\n
After all, didn\u2019t Jesus tell us in Matthew 5:48\u2026<\/p>\n
48. “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
\nNASB<\/p>\n
To us, this seems to be a commandment rather than a suggestion, which means that we have been given the spiritual power to do it, if we are willing to accept it and use it.<\/p>\n
And didn\u2019t Jesus also teach us to pray for this in the Lord\u2019s Prayer, as we are told in Matthew 6:10.<\/p>\n
10. ‘Thy kingdom come.
\nThy will be done,
\nOn earth as it is in heaven.
\nNASB<\/p>\n
We don\u2019t have to ask God for this kind of spiritual help in these exact words, but that the inner most thoughts of our mind and soul should be, \u201cHelp me Lord to make the decisions you want me to make and to live the way you want me to live, that I may bring glory to your name, and make this a more loving and compassionate world for the whole of creation.\u201d<\/p>\n
