IA: Hunter injured after he shot himself

December 9, 2018

From Allison Derks, WeAreIowa.com

A 39-year-old man is in the hospital tonight after he accidentally shot himself.

Police tell us that Ronald Butler was hunting near the town of Macksburg when he got out of his vehicle, dropped his shotgun, and it accidentally went off.

He was with two other adults when this happened. They were able to get an ambulance to bring him to the Madison County Hospital. He was flown to a Des Moines hospital for more treatment.

On Sunday night, we do not have an update on his condition. We do know that he was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.
