MIDWAY, Ga. (AP) Police in east Georgia say two convicted felons were arrested after police found them with a gun and a gator that they weren't supposed to have.

WSAV-TV reports police in Midway found the two Sunday with a rifle and an alligator that had been taped up to immobilize its snout and feet. Midway Police Sgt. Duvale Page Sr. says deputies ran checks on the men and found both to be convicted felons, prohibiting them from possessing a rifle.

The unidentified men were charged with illegal possession of a rifle and illegal removal of an alligator. The alligator has been relocated to a safe area.
