a different kind of coffee break with Gerry and Ray Coffey

Disease-Free Living Through Fitness and Nutrition

We began this Advice section as a means of assisting our visitors in answering many of their health and diet questions, and in encouraging them to take a pro-active part in their own health.  We believe that the information contained herein is true, but are not presenting it as the only solution to a problem.  We, personally, have found that a vegan diet has helped our own health, and simply wish to share with others the things we have found.   Each of us must make our own decisions, for it's our own body.  If you have a health problem, see your own physician.

Natures' Best Greens or Barleymax

Hi, Gerry:

Which is better? Dr. Kim's "Natures' Best Greens" or Dr. M's "Barleymax?

One way to find out, Cathy. Try them both, separately, until you run out of one and then try the other and see how your body feels about each.

We've only used to the BarleyMax simply because as Health Ministers many people request it. Ray says he can't tell any difference. I am not consistent enough to be able to measure its effect accurately. But since you mentioned it, I keep some by my desk and gobbled some up. The taste takes some adapting to, but as somewhat of an extremist, if I think something's good for me, I LEARN TO LIKE IT;-)

As a general rule, however, we don't recommend supplements except for B12, but figure if people consume the BarleyMax rather than eat a Standard American breakfast, or whatever, they've done themselves a LOT of good. Also, most people's bodies are acidic so the BarleyMax would help to detox/akaline it.

Re: Dr. Kim: We haven't met, personally, though I have "talked" with him via email. I disagree with some of his recommendations and have told him so, however in the grand scheme of transitioning people over from the SAD to the GLAD Diet, whatever works is recommended, and I believe the majority of his advice is quite sound.;-)
