Coffey Grounds Rules, Hours and Fees

Note: We operate on a shoestring and wish to share this beautiful property with which we have been blessed with those who respect and care for the Great Outdoors and its ability to restore and revitalize those who honor it.
For that reason:

• The Coffey Grounds is open from Noon to 5 p.m. by Reservation Only for a minimum of 20 adult reservations on week days and a maximum of 100 adults plus families on Weekends, unless otherwise reserved.
• Pavilions plus certain areas and/or the entire COFFEY GROUNDS complex can be rented/reserved for exclusive Private Parties, special occasions: birthdays, reunions, company parties, weddings, etc.
• ALWAYS check our CoffeyGrounds.net web site in advance to save unnecessary travel in case we are CLOSED for a PRIVATE PARTY or INCLEMENT WEATER.
• Everyone who enters The Coffey Grounds MUST sign Waivers. Parents must arrange to do this for their children and teens before they can be admitted and must be accompanied by an authorized adult. Waivers can be downloaded and provided at the gate or completed online. (Some phones browsers are incompatible.)
• We can provide contact information for Scuba Instructors for those who wish to become Scuba Certified.
• ALL visitors, including those with reservations, must check in first at the Top Pavilion on the right to provide Waivers, obtain Wrist Bands, etc. Area Police make routine checks and those without Wrist Bands are invited to leave with them;-).
• For safety and health reasons: Cliffs are for viewing pleasure only. Those disobeying the No Trespassing signs will be prohibited from the premises, pictures of them and/or their car licenses taken and reported to the Police.
• Smoking, Fishing, Pets (best left safely at home) are PROHIBTTED
• Swim at own Risk. Even Olympic Swimmers sometimes get cramps. Always Swim with a Buddy.
• Non and Weak Swimmer MUST WEAR A LIFE JACKET
• Life Jackets, Kayaks, Floats, Barge, Noodles, Paddle Boat, Stand Up Paddle, etc. are complimentary on a 30 minute basis. Please remember to share.
• ALL complimentary equipment MUST BE RETURNED: Kayaks and boats need to be pulled securely to the shore, turned over to drain and other equipment and life jackets orderly returned to the storage room.
• ALL TRASH, GARBAGE & PERSONAL ITEMS MUST LEAVE WITH YOU.
• Grills and Hammocks are available to rent. Yours are best left at home.
• When Thunder is heard, life-endangering Lightening is a few seconds behind. For that reason ALL must leave the water and avoid touching metal for a minimum of 10 minutes without Thunder.
• Many new friends have been made when hovering under the Pavilions waiting for summer storms to vent their energies and pass.
• We WELCOME the Mini-United-Nations visitors who have enjoyed The Coffey Grounds and welcome their return;-).
• We appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Waivers MUST be signed by EVERY ADULT who enters the property. Children must be signed in and accounted for by Parent or authorized Guardian. Family members & ages can all be listed on the same page and use back of page if necessary.

• Weak or non-swimmers must wear a Life Jacket. Even good swimmers get cramps so ALWAYS SWIM WITH A BUDDY!
• Waivers are valid until 31 December of the respective year.
• Entrance fee for Adults $10. Children under six $5. (Infants in arms are free.)
• Scuba Instructor is gratis with a minimum of 5 Divers at $20 per person
• Entrance fee covers the following for attendees’ shared enjoyment
• Small sandy beach and shallow area for Little Ones
• Paddle Boards and "Noodles"
• Paddle Boat,
• Kayaks
• Life Jackets
• Floats
• Barge
• S.U.P.: Stand-Up-Paddle
• Mid-lake-Platform for good swimmers who enjoy playing "King-of-the-Hill."
• Sunken Platforms at 15’ and 30’ for Scuba Diver Trainees and Instructors
• Restrooms

Proper use of kayaks, boats, water toys, life vests, rafts, etc. are available on a First-Come-First-Serve-basis.

Please Share and use for a maximum of 30 minutes when others are waiting to use popular items like Kayaks, Barge, Raft, Tahiti Island Float when others are waiting. You are more than welcome to bring your own Kayaks, floats, etc.

BE SURE TO return kayaks/boats/rafts/floats to shore and hang life vests, paddles, noodles, water toys, etc. in Store room;-)

Tree Shaded areas WITH PICNIC TABLES can be rented for $10 per day, also a new, large party Grill: $10 (per hour).

Reserve your Picnic Table under the trees: $10 per day.

Smoking, inappropriate language and dress, as well as glass and alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

We presently allow food at Lower and Upper Pavilions but irreverent droppings of food and drink, especially at the Lower Pavilion, is attracting Fire Ants. Please be "Thy Brother's Keeper" and insure everyone remove ALL unconsumed items, trash & garbage from the premises when you leave to insure we are able to provide that option.

URGENT: When THUNDER IS HEARD, DANGEROUS LIGHTENING IS LESS THAN 7 SECONDS BEHIND: EVERYONE MUST DEPART THE WATER and avoid touching anything METAL.

We recommend you make new friends and "Get Cozy" under the Pavilion while avoiding any metal. After 10 minutes without Thunder it is safe to return to the water.

OUR MAJESTIC CLIFFS ARE FOR VIEWING ONLY: Please be sure to obey ALL NO TRESPASSING SIGNS or Decatur's Finest Police Officers (who make routine checks because they LOVE The Coffey Grounds, too;-) will ESCORT VIOLATORS FROM THE PREMISES.

We LOVE Animal Companions but they are best left at home where they are safe and secure.

AND We LOVE to share our “Nature’s Cathedral” with those who care for and respect the Great Outdoors.

The Coffey Grounds owner and staff reserve the right to prohibit from entering anyone being disrespectful to people or property.
