UPDATE: DOG KILLER SENTENCED TO JAIL:

On Monday (3/4), Michael Grier, the Pittsburgh man who pleaded guilty to multiple charges in a vicious attack on a stray pit bull last May, was sentenced in front of Judge Kathleen Durkin. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Judge Durkin sentenced Mr. Grier to 10 to 36 months in jail, two years’ probation, and a $1000 fine for his role in the attack, in which the dog was set on fire and stoned to death. In pronouncing her sentence, Judge Durkin told Grier that she had received more than 700 e-mails and about 150 letters from people around the world regarding the case and that "None of them were in your favor.” The relatively strong sentence is particularly significant because Pennsylvania is one of only twelve states that has no felony animal cruelty law, and even the most egregious cases of animal abuse and torture are treated only as misdemeanors.
