UPDATE: HORSE VICTORY IN TEXAS

Thanks to hundreds of thousands of activist calls pouring into the Texas legislature, the amendment to legalize horse slaughter in the state has been killed! Senator Robert Deuell (R-Greenville) faced down lobbyists from the horse slaughter industry and, as promised, stripped the amendment from Senate bill 1413 before it passed out of committee. Many legislative offices reported getting more calls in opposition to the horse slaughter amendment than all other issues combined. In fact, the flood of emails even temporarily disabled many senators’ inboxes (as many of you may have discovered last week). Next up: the battle to pass H.R. 857, the federal bill that will put an end to horse slaughter nationwide. Stay tuned for updates!
