UPDATE: BABY RACCOON KILLER IS SENTENCED:

On Tuesday (7/8/03), John Robert Brady, the Downey, Calif. man who admitted to the beating deaths of four baby raccoons (see HUMANElines Issue 250), was sentenced for one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty. Judge James Dabney handed Brady 36 months probation, $1096 fines, 30 community service hours at an animal shelter, and ten weeks of anger management. Although the lack of jail time is disappointing, Brady’s sentence for one misdemeanor was nonetheless considerable, and it is undoubtedly greater than it would have been without the vocal input from the public.
