Abortion and Animals Rights: The Connection
By Amanda - 14 May 2013

Well, you could look at it this way: probably 99% of the people who are the most vocal against abortion consume approximately 90+ animals per year.  If you were to take all vegans, less the males as they cannot possibly have an abortion and then subtract the females who would/have never had one, you are left with less than 25% who MIGHT have or have had an abortion.  I am not justifying this, just showing some numbers, though not scientific, of course.

So you have a contingent of people who are against human abortion, yet contribute to the death of almost 100 animals a year, and a contingent of people who would not harm a fly, literally, OR have an abortion.  So I would say, the numbers still show the vegans as more compassionate, not that it's a contest, mind you, I am just pointing out some facts.

I have been a member and left more churches because of their pig roasts, fish fries and God only knows what else at their potlucks.  Watching a group of Christians  thanking God for the rotting carcass in front of them has sickened me more times than I can count.  I have never been to a vegan event where abortion was glorified or celebrated, and would most likely leave that group as well.

Simply because there are many of us trying to find a Christian Vegan forum that focuses on the plight of billions of animals, does not preclude us from caring about abortions, however, the numbers are not even close. I realize this just angered many people, as a life is a life.  According to WHO, there are approximately 50 million abortions per year worldwide.  I can tell you, though I would mourn 50 million animals deaths a year worldwide, it would be leaps and bounds better than the estimated hundreds of billions killed every year right now.
