Horseback Riding and Animal Rights:
Can They Ever Be in Harmony?
Comments by: Rhonda - 18 Jan 2006

Dear members:

Unfortunately, those unwanted horses are slaughtered right HERE in the U.S!...for foreign consumption...

AND it's the USDA that's behind it so basically YOU and I are funding it with our tax dollars!

Due to a tremendous amount of pressure by animal advocate groups, Congress overwhelmingly passed a bill in 2005 that would HALT the slaughter of horses on U.S. soil, by cutting funding to the USDA, for its inspections of horse slaughter plants.

Now the USDA is trying to subvert this Congressional mandate by considering a petition submitted by (3) foreign-owned slaughter plants. If approved, their petition would effectively allow the slaughter of horses to continue within the U.S.

Please contact Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns demanding that he put a stop to such a proposal, and asking him to honor the will of Congress and the people, who have clearly DEMANDED that this practice be abolished!

You may email him at: [email protected]

Or phone his office to voice your objections at: (202) 720-3631

Peace to our brethren,
