Horseback Riding and Animal Rights:
Can They Ever Be in Harmony?
Comments by: Carmel Goneau - 26 Feb 2002

Dear Anna and All:

I am very sorry.  I did not mean to suggest that Anna or anybody was doing anything wrong by riding horses.  I think it is very neat what you are doing, Anna!  I just like to ponder the big questions.  I understand Jesus hasn't come back yet and when He does He will set all things right and once again, as Jim says, the horses will run free like the buffalo used to.  I was just attempting to start a conversation and throw out some "big" questions (to me anyway) for thought.

Before I was a Christian, I was a Buddhist (mixed with Native American religions) and I would ponder questions of relationships between species and "dominance" and stuff like that all the time.  I guess I never gave it up as a Christian because, as a Christian I see "dominance" very clearly in attitudes the church holds towards all kinds of things and it doesn't sit very well with me.  This may be only in American Christianity, I don't know, but I don't care for it much.  I just hold on to what Jesus did for me and that He is coming back soon.  So please accept my apologies.
