In Reference to Growing a Papaya Tree from Seed

I was actually told that they could not be grown in a pot do to root issues.
Is this in reference to Dwarf types versus regular large types?
Well the plant is already outdoors and gets regular water and full sun, but i was thinking of planting it in another or the same spot but in the ground so it can root itself well.
The thing with mine is that its so tall and the trunk is sill so thin and yes it is bowing a lot without the wind even. I was thinking of pruning the top off to shorten it! Would that be acceptable to prune the top or delay the fruition of the fruit.
